I bought a business. What do you want to know?

Hey there, Reader,

I've been in business for years, but on the first of this month, I did something I'd never done before.

I acquired an existing business and began integrating it into my own.

That business is Velocity Generator.

Now, this wasn't a case of buying a business I knew only from the outside.

I'd spent four years working alongside Gwen Bortner as her CMO/COO. I knew the clients, the systems, the offer, and the day-to-day operations. In fact, I'd already been running much of Velocity Generator over the summer while Gwen focused on other projects.

What I hadn't planned on was owning it.

The possibility didn't even come up until August. By Sept. 1, I'd signed the paperwork. And on Oct. 1, the acquisition became official.

There's a big difference between knowing how a business works and deciding how it fits into the business you're already building.

That's what I'm navigating now.

This Thursday, Oct. 15, I'm sharing a behind-the-scenes email debrief of the acquisition: how the opportunity came about, what went into my decision, and what I'm learning about integrating an established business into my own.

But first, I want to hear from you.

What would you like to know about the acquisition?

Maybe you're curious about the financial considerations, the negotiations, the transition from Gwen, or what happens when you acquire a business with existing clients and established systems.

Or maybe there's something else you're wondering about.

Hit reply and ask me anything.

I'll use your questions to shape Thursday's debrief. There are some confidential details I can't share, but I'll be as transparent as I can.

In your corner,

Tonya
